Why does my dog randomly just stop on a leash?
He’s a really good dog, and follows me when I walk him, he’s always right beside my left leg, he doesn’t walk in front of me and is curious and marks his territory sometimes.
But sometimes, he’s just stubborn and he just stops, I try to tug on the leash a bit and he just keeps being stubborn, sometimes I can make him walk again by patting him, but why does he just stop and what can I do to stop it?
He even stops on the road sometimes.
He’s a great walker when he’s not on a leash though, but I keep him on a leash sometimes because of bicycles & cars.
Thanks (:
Thanks for answering but when I ignore him and just keep on walking he still just stands there, no matter how much I pull on the leash or say ‘come on’ in a happy voice.
Mine has always just stopped even after we been walking a long time. I discovered a couple of months ago that she only does this when a fast car is coming as a way to get me out of the road. We live in rural community and she notices the cars even when they are more than a half mile away. And like you I thought she was just being stubborn now I know why. Just pay attention to what is happening up to several minutes after he does it. Good Luck.
